atom feed

I'm making an atom xsl stylesheet. I guess I have two qestions. atom has 
the concepts of
modified, issued, and created. We just have pubDate. modified and issued 
are MUST created
is MAY. Do we want to support both?

Secondly. Atom requires a modifed date for the entire "feed" i'm 
struggling how to get this out of the xsl.
(how do i get the most recent pubDate?)
Any thoughts appreciated.
