Hmmm...I'm not sure that this argument makes sense. This is like driving
on a road and seeing a collision ahead of you but not swerving to get
out of the way because swerving is illegal and you know that you are
driving legally so that's all that matters. And, if you die or hit a
pedestrian...well at least everyone would shake their head later and
say, "At least he was exactly following the rules." If everyone followed
all of the rules exactly in the real world and never deviated without
notice of how the rules actually applied in the environment where they
were relevant, then I assure you that nothing would ever work.
I agree with a another posting that suggested that you look at the user
group. One example is some design enterprise software we recently
designed where we know for a fact that everyone in the company will have
the i.e. 6.0 because this is a requirement to purchase the software. So,
the app must be developed to run on i.e. 6.0. Doesn't matter if the code
is perfect or not...it must run on this platform. In general, every
project we've worked on, when you really dug deep, it became obvious
what browser the majority of users would be using and what you should
optimize for.

>...My feeling is that if my code is valid and, for some reason, IE on
Mac flakes out with it, then that is really an IE on Mac issue. I'm not
going to continue to worry about every possible combination of browser
and OS when I know that my code is valid...
