Sorry guys, but I really do have to add my two penneth in here

This type of thing is exactly why the 'usability' profession is
misinterpreted by people outside of the discipline. It is also why I become
discouraged to speak up and get involved in the sharing of ideas and
methods.

Items discussed recently on this list are not discussed with the greater
good in mind. It is not about sharing knowledge and learning from each
other, instead it is about public criticism and one-upmanship. As John says,
he was just trying to help someone out.

It saddens me to see this time and again with 'usability' people, who seem
to be more interested in engaging in narrow minded criticism than in genuine
constructive critique - there is a large difference. As a usability person
myself I find it hard to maintain my enthusiasm for the profession when this
keeps happening.

Perhaps I should keep this to myself in future. Or, perhaps not. But I do
appeal that you think twice about your motives for this type of criticism in
the future

With regards to the unusability of my site, quoted in reference to a report
hosted there of interest to list members:

i. I am aware my site is rendered unusable in Mozilla and /some/
configurations of Netscape.
ii. I have been involved in discussion of this issue with other list
members off list and do not wish to go into it publicly.
iii. I am sadened that a genuine attempt to assist someone has now led to
my own site being publicly critiqued but accept that I probably put myself
up-for-it by failing to account for the 2-5% of people using Mozilla.
iv. I do not wish to engage any further in this discussion and would ask
that list members do not publicly discuss my site's failings or otherwise.

vi. If anyone is able to explain why my CSS2 compliant site is not readable
