A note from my experience with WaSP: when we looked into accepting
donations, it came to light that, in the U.S. at least, there were
strict rules regarding organization and handling of finances in
non-profit organizations. To make everything legal would really
have required a lawyer and an accountant. We decided /not/ to
accept monetary donations but instead to rely on services donated
by members (including things like several members forking over
the $ for printed brochures and the like). The donators simply
wrote the expenses off as marketing or the like and WaSP avoided
the hassle of being an official org.

Someone else may know more about this and be able to correct me,
but I believe accepting monetary donations is more trouble than
it's worth for a very focused group like this. That being the case,
a financial position is 'redundant,' to use a corporate euphemism.
