I know this may sound silly, but couldn't we have documents in US English (spelling and idiom) *and* UK English (spelling and idiom).
First it would tend to get more companies in the U.K. and the U.S. on our side by talking in local versions of the language.
Second it would be a pretty good testbed for any internationalisation effort.
But because of the world wide effort and U.S. English being used by more companies in the non English-as-a-first-language world, this should be the prime writing medium. Any number of us could then translate to U.K. English - and yes I volunteer.
And I suggest that flags be used for accessing local versions - something like they do at http://www.mysql.com/downloads/download.php?file=Downloads/MySQL-Max-3.23/MySQL-Max-3.23.51-1.i386.rpm which has always seemed very sensitive to localisation issues.
If we did this, should we also be trying to register maccaws.org.uk domain? Telling U.k. English people what to do is easier if it comes from a U.K. domain. Or am I up the wrong tree again?
