[MACCAWS] Legal Finance Question List - please read and edit

Instead of using the WIKI I ended up starting a short list of
questions for our temporary legal advisor. Please adjust and add as
you see fit so we can send them off:

1. We are not set up as any type of "official" organization. We've
heard that setting up a non-profit org. is painful and the benefits
don't necessarily outweigh the negatives, particularly in our case.
Plus, any costs associated with this would be prohibitive for us
since we are on basically a zero budget.

2. What are the ramifications of accepting donations? Both if we are
a non-profit and if we are not. Also, how could we accept money
without being a non-profit and not have to worry about tax concerns.

3. Where should we base our org? US and UK suggested, both have very
different laws as to taxes (if we end up needing to worry about
taxes).

4. We must retain our intellectual property rights. Copyleft has been
suggested favorably as the means to protect our work.
