I tend to lean toward Jon's point of view on this. Its not just that
we don't have a site yet and that type of thing. 

Let's look at it this way: Say we go to WaSP, today. We say, Hi, were
this, we want this, here's our leaders. They say, Great! Nice idea.
We really think you ought to go for it. We support the effort. What
have you got so far?

Ummmmmm

I don't want ummm to be our answer. I want, "Well, we have these 4
papers, we have these 6 studies, we have this slideshow and this
video. We have these 4 case studies. We have 532 members and growing
each day. The list generates 10000 emails a month, etc etc."

Then we can start seeing where who can help us with what. "Oh," they
may say. "This here case study, we have additional material for you."
Or, "This paper, you have 2 errors because we just found out such and
such."

This way, there is room for some collaboration right off the bat, and
not just back slapping. Back slapping might be nice righ now, but I'm
not sure terribly useful. Remember, these people do know we exist.
