[MACCAWS] Advice on free web tools

Can anyone give some up to date information (recommendations/reviews/don't 
touch it with a bargepole) on free authoring tools that are going to 
generate compliant code. I have an old list of free tools but (just before 
it's become too late) that they produce HTML in any old format whatsoever. 
I've become so used to hand coding and using topStyle that I hadn't 
realised that my list was so out of date. this is for the long promised 
course notes on Web Standards that I'm due to give this week.
