Geoff, there isn't any reason why you can't use js in a standards
compliant way, many of us do. Maybe if we speak of it as ECMAscript
instead ;). It IS a standards recommendation.

Use JS, its great. Just don't write hairy browser branching scripts
and do naughty things with it. You are the programmer, you are in
charge! JS is a powerful tool that is here for the loooong haul.
