Application Starting Problems Fixed - Java (5.0 and 1.4.2.) Related

I did what several people suggested, which was configure my  
development box to compile on Java 1.4.2 (or what is set up on my  
deployment box). I had Java 5 on my development machine, and although  
I could set the Java compiler in XCode to 1.4* this had (obviously)  
no effect on my build through the command line.

I can go on record as saying that the Java preferences window in the  
Utilities folder that comes with Java 5.0 (setting both options down  
to 1.4.2) has no impact on the Terminal's build. Resetting the JavaVM  
framework through the Terminal ended up being a lot harder than I  
hoped it would be (I'm not a Unix guy), so I reinstalled Tiger and  
restarted the Terminal, did a Java check (Java -version), confirmed  
the 1.4.2, and everything went swimmingly from there.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in on this. Here's hoping someone finds  
this next time they try and install on a Development box with 1.4.2  
from a deployment box on Java 5.0. I have a feeling that's going to  
happen at least a couple more times.
