Ultimately, the decision is yours, but........

Your client wants open source "free". So, there are only two choices in 
your list: PostGreSQL and MySQL. Out of the two, MySQL is better 
supported than PostGreSQL and is even a "qualified" database for use 
with WO. Also, MySQL runs on all popular platforms.

So far, I like MySQL, it's free, very fast, and its "shortcomings" may 
indeed be features that you do not need when the sophisticated EOF in 
WO is controlling it with standard ANSI SQL 92.

Besides, it costs NOTHING to download it and try it out today! 
(http://www.mysql.com)

... anyway, just my recommendation/opinion..... your customer will 
thank you for it in the end and maybe you can make more money since he 
does not have to break out the savings account for a big fat user-based 
license!
