though probably not ;-) Its still in early stages and probably will  
never really replace WO (eg D2JC). However it has quite a few nice  
additions as well (though it doesn't match the ObjC variant, SOPE,  
yet). We just did it because some clients insisted on having apps  
written in Java ...

We don't care that much about WO compatibility anymore, we rather  
concentrate on adding new approaches while trying to preserve a few  
concepts which we think where great about WO (eg templates doing  
request processing, not just rendering or subcomponent/element  
handling ...).

Personally I would probably drop own efforts when WO would become  
available as OpenSource though it needs to have significant  
extensions to be viable for current web development.
Anyway, if you want to start something from scratch, feel free to  
copy code from JOPE, it should contain quite a few things you can  
copy as-is ;-)
