FEATURE REQUEST: attempting to check md5sums automatically

I searched the archives and couldn't find anything along these lines - so it's 
probably daft.

A lot of the time i'm wgetting files that have an associated hash file. 
Wouldn't it be nice if wget could attempt to find an associated md5sum file 
when it downloads a tarball and then check it for you?

I realize the user could do this with a bash script, but it would be a nice to 
have...
