awkiawki and thttpd--can't save data

Someone recently wrote a helpful msg. about dealing w/
inability to save data within a chroot jail. I am using
awkiawki in a NON-chroot-jail environment and having the same problem. Everything works fine except saving new data. I have checked all file permissions in all directories--everything has rw permission but nothing works to remove this major glitch.

Is anyone aware of any peculiarities  in thttpd which would cause POSTing to fail in a default environment?
