Directories will need x permission to be useful, but I don't think
that should cause the behaviour you're seeing.

There was one funny in thttpd 2.21b which meant that it didn't handle
POST correctly.  As far as I recall, 2.23beta1 and 2.20c both worked
okay.

Can you confirm the version you're using?

Other than that, I don't recall any particular problems getting it
working -- are all the associated tools available in the environment
of your web server?
