Hi Paul,

I think it's great that you want to volunteer, but to get the most benefit,
you need to be careful on how you proceed. Your original post was very high
on specifics and low on rationale, and I only marginally understand it
better now. That is mostly because I don't have time to discover what Lalzo
(sp?) does or how it benefits me, but I suspect that will apply to a lot of
people.

What concerns me is that you announce a sprint to change Archetypes without
really having discussed the benefits of doing so here. You're then unlikely
to get much buy-in from the existing maintainers, who would probably be
cautious to change Archetypes if there was not a clear and universal benfit.
If you want to fork AT, that is of course your perogative, but I doubt it's
what's best for you or for many other people.

Don't get me wrong - I think it's very, very important that we get people
who want to contribute and help us improve Archetypes. I think it's awesome
that you are proposing to sponsor or host a sprint, and I'm very thankful
that you want to include the wider community. However, I think you'll get
more benefit in the long run by involving the community a bit more strongly
up-front, also in building the case for what you're proposing to do. It may
well be that there are better solutions than what you've thought about.
