Thanks for the links Martin. Is there any documentation for Bling? I
looked at the readme and it does indeed sound like where we want to go (from
what it can tell me). And Azax also seems to be a good bit on the right
track - are there any pointers on how these are being integrated with
Archetypes specifically?

Ideally we will wind up with a separate plug-in type product for archetypes
(we are trying to keep the actual dependency on everything Plone does low).
Then people that want Laszlo to be a front-end have that option available to
them. I am presuming that the type of plug-in we are considering (i.e.
having different views that communicate to another server to then render the
UI) has not been considered as of yet, so that is where the core change
would occur if at all. And I would think this would be useful for other
potential outputs (another example would be suppose you want a WML output,
then that would be another plug-in). While I think having a fork as an
option on the table is a potential, I am in agreement it is not an optimal
path.

I am having my tech lead looking over these two items; we already have 8
local programmers committed, so if this moves us (and Archetypes) along
faster then this will wind up being good for everyone. We are basically
addressing an integration need that many of us in the DC have an interest in
and we feel that including the archetypes community will help make this
integration go smoother so we 1) hoped there would be some participation
from the community for those that are available to get involved and 2) we
were hoping to get ideas such as the ones you referenced below from the
community; even from those that may not be able to participate. We saw a
need articulated on the users mailing list that confirmed our need within
the community (we know we aren't alone), an answer that pointed to a
solution (css/javascript) that seemed to be more of a temporary approach,
and no activity on the developers mailing list towards a more integrated
concept, so we decided to jump in, particularly since we need to address it
for our integration. ( I'll note the following email train so you know the
references I am making in this sentence:

Anyway, any details on the efforts being done to integrate Azax and Bling
with Archetypes and the gaps that still need to be filled will be
appreciated; we will attempt to integrate them into our Sprint as best as we
can so everyone is working on the same page.

Cheers!

Paul

...snip..., who would probably be cautious to change Archetypes if there was
not a clear and universal benefit.

If you want to fork AT, that is of course your perogative, but I doubt it's
what's best for you or for many other people.

Don't get me wrong - I think it's very, very important that we get people
who want to contribute and help us improve Archetypes. I think it's awesome
that you are proposing to sponsor or host a sprint, and I'm very thankful
that you want to include the wider community. However, I think you'll get
more benefit in the long run by involving the community a bit more strongly
up-front, also in building the case for what you're proposing to do. It may
well be that there are better solutions than what you've thought about.

As for KSS, look at http://azax.ree.hu <http://azax.ree.hu/> , and for Bling
