not exactly. we're referring to the code position and not the visual 
position. so it is semantic. don't mix markup with visual things - just 
with small things like the (i really don't like it, but w3c forced us to 
do have that) .visualPadding .visualClear

it was .left and .right in 1.0.x, and so refering to the visual part of 
plone - #portal-column-N is extensible and does not refer to the visual 
position of the tableless layout. people could mix it up as visual id 
naming in the tablebased layout, though i don't think these people are 
going to think much about semantics anyway ;)

this is impossible at this point of development, we can't and shouldn't 
change names between every release. and, we already have a semantic 
naming scheme, so there is no need for that.
