we are currently preparing Cafecito Sprint Rosario
(https://plone.org/events/community/cafecito-sprint-rosario) and, even
as this year edition is far less ambitious than the previous one[1], we
have the same vision of working on and finishing stuff that can be used
to solve some business problems we are currently having and also on
enhancing Plone usability in some way.

we're going to be learning and testing some technologies that are new
for most of us, mainly semantic markup and u11y.

I want to build a list with the things we want to work; these are the
issues as for today (many thanks to Paul and Alan for their feedback):

semantic markup
* we want to experiment with rNews (http://dev.iptc.org/rNews) to embed
metadata in online news; we are going to work on collective.nitf
(https://github.com/collective/collective.nitf) and, after testing the
results, port some of this to Plone's News Item content type templates
(Archetypes and Dexterity versions)

u11y
* enhance Plone's main template accessibility with WAI-ARIA landmark
roles (https://dev.plone.org/ticket/9298)
* enhance z3c.form widgets with WAI-ARIA labeling and describing by
using aria-labelledby and aria-describedby attributes
* enhance z3c.form widgets with WAI-ARIA aria-required attribute to
indicate form fields that are required
* review Plone templates and use WAI-ARIA presentation role attribute on
elements that could use it (for instance, <img> tags with empty alt
attribute)
* review current status of Plone against some accessibility evaluator
like FAE (http://fae.cita.illinois.edu/)
* work on an experimental package that could be use to test any Plone
page against some accessibility evaluator using an API
* learn more about u11y testing and how to implement this on a CI
testing environment

please feel free to mention other issues that could be related and, in
case you're interested on helping us in some way, please contact Juan
Pablo, André or me directly.

[1] Cafecito Sprint 2012 lasted 2 weeks, involved a lot of people and
gave birth to collective.cover; that was way too much!
