Hi Robert,
p.a.m does not have the concept of "canonical" object as LinguaPlone does
and this is intended to be a p.a.m feature :)
I disagree with you when you said that the use case you are proposing is
not a kind of *neutral language* content. I think that a document that you
want to make it appear regarding of the language you've selected is just
*neutral language* content. The only wrong is how we call it, this is why
I've put it in asterisks :) We just need to find a better name for it as
the Linguaplone concept of it will stop bugging us.

Please review and try the
https://github.com/plone/plone.app.multilingual/tree/lrf-type branch. It's
still a proof of concept and it has some drawbacks (please Ramon, enlighten
us) but I think we can work them out.
