Hi, During the conference sprint Philip Bauer resurfaced up the idea of making all content types folderish. This led to a lot of discussion, some mockups [1] and some analysis on the UI team list [2] [3]. If you have time I recommend reading the usecase document and help think what else needs to change [3]. I would say the summary is that it will solve a lot of UI problems that seem to come up with new users of Plone. It would solve the top 3 items for editors on the UX hitlist (see google doc [3] for details.) However there is perhaps more code to change that initially thought. Hopefully it would be good to avoid +1,-1 type discussion just yet. My purpose to bring this discussion here is to get guidance on just how much work would be involved and what else we need to change we haven't thought of yet. Also to start thinking about the affect on 3rd party plugin content types. Based on the usecases identified so far in [3] we'd need - Changes to to navigation code and editing UI so the title and description could different on navigation such as breadcrumbs, than on the page. - Changes to CMFEditions to handle folderish types. Decisions about what happens to the contents of content - changes to sharing UI and portlets UI Also note we currently have two ideas on how to handle collections [3] and we haven't worked out which would be best yet.
