1. You are talking about now.
2. Overriding a template and customizing Plone are overlapping
concepts, but not the same thing. Plone is indeed vast and extremely
complicated. It does not get much simpler with todays TTW development
story. You think it does, I disagree.

I do agree that a small part of it is much simpler TTW, namely
overriding templates and scripts, and even adding simple views. But my
point is that I think it is possible to get that simplicity without
holding on to all the drawbacks. Because when people say they want
TTW, they do not mean that they want code that can't be in version
control, or that they use a crappy text editor, etc, etc. But that's
what you get today.

Well, that's what I'm trying to talk about, yes. It's not going very well.
