My answer to this is:

Plone 4 without plone.app.widgets:
- plone.app.event 1.1.x branch/releases (current: 1.1b1)
- plone.app.contenttypes 1.1.x branch/releases (current: 1.1b2)

Plone 4 with plone.app.widgets:
- plone.app.event master branch / 1.2 releases (current: 1.2.1)
- plone.app.contenttypes master branch / 1.2 releases (current: 1.2a1)
