not sure what you mean by long-time support, but my personal plan is to support
plone.app.widgets to work with 4.3 until first stable realease of 5.0 is out
(and should work with p.a.event/contenttypes).

you must know that its hard to keep all scenarios always working becuase
currently we have some many different combinations that need to work together
(p.a.contenttypes/p.a.event/p.a.widgets/5.0).

right now we forgot to release version of p.a.event which works with 4.3 and
p.a.widgets (we were focused on 5.0a2 release too much). but this is currently
in work, its not that we abandoned it we just forgot about it.

what happens after 5.0 i have no idea ... i guess it will be much clearer once
we are closer to that date.
