I understand the frustration of some people but it is more frustrating for anybody to come looking for information and land on a page completely outdated with information that does not work anyway. Ehm, I don't see the problem here if the old documentation was still available a few months as a reference on a separate url like old-docs.plone.org or old-developer.plone.org so that community members with any knowledge on the old documentation structure and stored links/bookmarks can still find documentation they remember. With a correct robots.txt it doesn't pollute index results but still allows people to "get work done" and help fixing broken links.
