you might be right, 
my main reason was that it looks like many (even the local University, here) switches to for example Wordpress because it is
1) easy
2) Looks good (or at least, just like all other webpages)

and I have a feeling that many choose a CMS mainly based on those criteria..

Slightly related: If for example Plone 5 is released and no (Plone 4 ) themes are working, this will scare a way a lot of people
