I hadn't heard of whiptail! Thanks for pointing it out.

The Unified Installer has — so far — aimed for a very high degree of
compatibility between Unix-workalike systems. In a quick check, I didn't
find whiptail on anything other than debian/ubuntu. However, so long as we
provide an alternative mechanism for other systems, and so long as it's
possible to use the installer completely from the command line for
automated installs, I don't see any reason not to try it out! Debian/Ubuntu
is a huge portion of our install targets these days.

Want to experiment on a branch and let us know how it's going?
