It's a beta, which means, that Plone 5 is feature complete and the API
is stable. As you mentioned, it's not an RC with no known issues -
actually there are a lot. Look at the Github issue trackers.

It's a beta full with bugs. Don't use it in production or show it to
customers. I already have it in production, but I don't recommend anyone
to do that, except people who know exactly what they are doing.

Instead of ranting about bugs like the one described above (which might
even existed in earlier versions of Plone), go to
https://github.com/plone/Products.CMFPlone/issues/ and file an ticket
there.
