Out of curiosity I dug a little further.

The todo items for Zope-2.8 (can be found here: 
http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.8.0a1/CHANGES.txt) showed that there's 
indeed work to be done to get Zope security inline with newer Python versions...

I guess that explains the situation for now.
