We have a lot of ideas and plans worked out for sophisticated reference 
management applications, but currently absolutely no funding to actually 
work on these, so don't worry about concurrent development. Thanks for

Your effort is less ambitious and aims to reuse code that's already 
there, and that's why I have good hope it may lead to something useful 
(even though it probably won't match the requirements concerning this 
that we've received from customers in the past)

We'll be happy to support you in your effort and discuss issues on the 
list. If you want to check in code, do please use a branch for this. Try 
to keep the impact on Silva core code as minimal as possible.

One form of integration you may want to consider using is to use Five. 
We've recently used this to good success with a new Silva layout 
integration, for instance. Then again, take the approach you yourself 
feel most comfortable with.
