If the client is connected, then it is strange to get a DisconnectedError from 
just that one method. Could the DisconnectedError page be a browser cache?

An alternative non-browser solution is to create a ClientStorage instance in 
an interactive python and call its leave_snapshot method.

Anything in the ZEO server's log?
