I'm running Yosemite (10.10.5). (Thanks for the warning ;) ) I'm running 7.2.0.0.1.1447826929 of the command-line tools. ZODB doesn't do anything exotic wrt building. I haven't heard of anyone else having problems installing ZODB on Mac.
