just would like to tell who could be of interest that fbsetbg is a script which try a lot of programs until it find one which works (i mean, which you have in your path) to set the background. so 'i use fbsetbg' tells nothing about which program is setting your background. well i've been using Esetroot (yes, with fbsetbg) and it seems that fluxbox is not aware that the background changes, so transparency gets messed up (i mean, i do a 'fbsetbg anything.jpg' and menu and toolbar keeps 'transparent' with the old background). i've noticed that when i use the styles menu to change to another style, fluxbox fixes the transparency mess. the fact is that the style changes much faster than the background, so i have to set the same style twice in order to unmess the transparency thing. well, the real fact is that i've been using a single 'generic' style and a keyboard shortcut to a script which changes my background to a random one. so fluxbox never knows about the change and it always gets messed up. the toolbar specialy, because it's always there and have no need to redraw background transparency. then i have to apply the style again or set/unset visible or autohide to get by. root menu most of the times updates it's transparency thing, as it needs to redraw each time it opens.. but sometimes it keep drawing transparency with the old background anywere you open it. when it happens, applying the same style (a style without a root command) won't fix it. well i've aready got toolbar menu drawing transparency with one background, toolbar options menu with another, root menu with yet another and root submenus with another other one, then i had a restart. not to mention fbpager transparency. i use aterm transparency and it updates when i move the window, so i made a script using wmctrl which moves 'all' aterm. a nasty workaround, but that's the first thing i could think about and that's like this 'till today. i'm using 0.9.14 hints and comments about transparency problems and workaround are welcome =) ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
