That would great. I'm using gkrellm to display such stuff, but on some 
machines with small screen (i.e. laptop) I would get rid of it in favor 
of such feature. Since I don't have iconbar on my panel, so there is a 
plenty of space anyway. Actually, I also use to hack fluxbox once, to 
implement such thing, but I don't have time to patch every new version. 
rpm - is a lot faster.

BTW: isn't it what ion has for a long time already? And they are using 
lua for wring the plugins.
