I highly encourage you to report this problem on the gimp-devel list. 2.3 is a development branch, and they are rapidly working towards getting 2.4 finalized. This should be brought to their attention soon. I'm using 2.3.10 myself, and have not seen the problem - although that is probably because I don't have a colour printer and so never print anything from the Gimp!
