FWIW - I did a similar thing with wmctrl to make it easier to use with
fluxbox and xfce.  It's called wndo-ctrl, and it's been part of my wndo
project.  I don't know if I expose more of the wmctrl functionality than you
did, but you may find it does the job you need, and there's other features,
if you need them, from the rest of the project (wallpaper mangement, fake
tiling, etc.).

Just mentioning this in case you rather using an existing program, rather
than maintain your own. :)
