I don't know what Super-E is (no exp with macs), but Mod1 is usually
left alt.

Check the output of xmodmap -pm to see what modifiers you have, and
also check the output of xev when you press the key.

If the output from xev isn't in the xmodmap output, xmodmap can be
used to add/change the modifier.
