check the path where the executable lives & the path that is set when
the startup is called, or better to just full path to the
file/program/et al.

something like...  /opt/fun/stuff/bin/gkrellm ?

it's a complete guess...  or perhaps for debug a line like:

xterm -e "echo trying to start kgrellm ; sleep 3 ; /path/to/kgrellm ;
sleep 35" then you should be able to get a decentish error message if
there's a problem.   might also be good to review Xorg.log or
.xsession-errors or whatever you have along those lines.
