vlc & chromium contents persisting across virtual desktops

Hello,

I am going to repeat a question here that I have asked on the Arch forum,
because I have had no answer there so far. I do not have any reason to think
that icewm (which I have been using very contentedly for about 7 years) is
involved in the problem, but I am at a loss to know what is.

So, yesterday I did my usual full update of Arch, which which included upgrades
of chromium, vlc, a new kernel, xorg, nvidia blob and many others. On
rebooting I see that:

(1) The active content of the vlc video window, in which I view TV, persists
across across virtual desktops (although its frame is lost away from the
desktop on which it was launched).

(2) The content of chromium tabs persist in the same way - again the frame /
window decoration is missing.

I am not seeing this in Opera (which is the other QT app I use), or in any of
my various GTK applications.

Can I rule icewm out?

Many thanks,

Geoff
