by the way, you are adding the new values of $adname outside of the loop
Maybe thats the problem

Basically I am creating a script which will add and populate a database of test customers.
basically I will use a user name first time through, then the next time through 
add a number to the customer name.


ex: customer
ex: customer1
ex: customer2
and so on .

for some reason the number part will not add or inc.
