RSync on Pocket PC 2002 / Pocket PC 2004 or similar product

Has anyone figured out the
"Invalid file index 117440556 in recv_files (count=1)"
problem when transferring files from an RSync server using rsync ce
on a ARM Pocket PC 2002 / 2003 device?

If not, does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative
product that "transfers" files using a similar delta algorithm?

My goal is to robustly transfer and sync files to and from a central
server to many Pocket PC devices with minimal network traffic.
