Ok, this might be a dumb suggestion, but perhaps for your application
this would be fine. Why don't you pipe everything to a non-existant or
not-opened file? Well this would crash your code of course. But then
you can get your main code into a try{}catch{} construct to catch the
exceptions and do nothing about them.
I said it might be dumb suggestion, but it would work I guess, no?
