I think you need to explain why because the underlying CLR for v3.5 *is* v2.0! 
 
3.5 is just 2.0 with knobs on
These additional libraries are installed on the v3.5 (and v3.0) directory, so if you need the location of those extra libraries you might want to examine the path to one of the 3.5 assemblies

I want to find out programattically where the v3.5 version is but cannot
find away.

The followoing instruction returns the v2 framework path:

RuntimeEnvironment.GetRuntimeDirectory()

How can I get the version 3.5 path.
