I just started a job with a company that thinks VERY highly of MS certifications... in fact, you're REQUIRED to get your certs within 1 1/2 years.

In the "real world" this has been much less of an issue, and in fact this company hired me without any certs, but they're paying for them, so I'm motivated to go get them.  Their customers are very heavily MS-centric, so MS certs mean something very real to them.
