Re: ASP. net with "coal mining' background

I'm curious why the insistence on a coal mining background.  I would think the combination would be rare to find.

Part of the job of a good developer/analyst is quickly learning the client's business.  While I'm not looking for work at the moment, I have had occasion to work on applications in the Medical, Actuarial, Law Enforcement/Evidence Management, Pension, Funds Management, Postal, Travel/Cruiseline, Electrical/Power, Military, bureaucratic and a few other areas I forget at the moment.  Quite a few different areas, all of which required learning enough of the client's business in order to produce a good application.

There may be a very good reason to insist on the coal mining/engineering background, but typically there is just an assumption on clients' parts that no one else can learn their business well enough to create software for them.

I'm building a 1940-1950-era coalmine (two actually) on my coal-hauling model railroad, maybe that counts? :-)
