The problem with using a recruiter is all of the local recruiters contact me
looking for leads.

Me personally and my firm use recruiters exclusively that we have worked
with in the past.  Unfortunately not a lot of people trust jobs posted on
the internet anymore.  A lot of slimy recruiting firms post fictitious job
postings on sites and when someone calls about them they tell them the job
is taken but there is another "opportunity of a lifetime" with some other
company that "only they" have access too.  I'd let a trusted recruiter (the
one that you have a relationship with) know about the position and let
him/her send you resumes.
