Are you using the OLE DB driver from MS or Oracle?

Subject: Re: [OLEDB_DEV] Oracle 9i (release 2) and COM+

I have done this using Oracle 8.1.7 and COM+ under Win2K SP1. It was a real
pain, but was doable. First off, I don't know what may have changed
architecturally from 8i to 9i, so take this with a grain of salt.

The key problem I had when configuring my COM+ server to work with Oracle
was that the various COM+/MTS related services needed to be running under
with a valid domain identity. When running as localsystem, things would not
connect up. I found quite a bit of information on the Oracle Partners site
[under the 8i Windows documentation]. I would imagine the 9i docs for
windows should be available. Like most other things on the Oracle site,
however, you'll probably have to dig for a while to find it.

Hope this helps,
Bob DeRemer

Subject: Oracle 9i (release 2) and COM+
I am getting an XACT_E_NOENLIST error when using Oracle's OLE DB driver to
access and Oracle 9iR2 database via a COM+ component. (WIth the MS driver
for Oracle, I get XACT_E_TMNOTAVAILABLE). Of course everything works great
with MS SQL Server. Inquire type queries work fine, I only get the error
when I try modify anything (which, of course, is where transactions are
used)

I've been scanning the archives and searching for help on both the Oracle
and MS sites, but there is no definitive "This is how you set all this up"

Has anyone successfully setup COM+ using an Oracle OLE DB driver to access
an Oracle 9i database using transactions?

or does anyone know of a definitive resource that explains "exactly" how to
tie everything together?

TIA
