You might also check out Pierre Nallet's OLE DB extensions (in his book), my OLE DB template extensions for OLE DB 2.5 (on my website)  and Charlie Ye's OLE DB library (I think its called UDA Parts now, used to be OLE DB pro). Don't know if Charlie's is template-based but its worth a look.

Yes, but that's that will quickly degrade to doing all kinds of mostly unneccessary checks just to deal with all possibilities. 
What I want is template generated code that do exactly the right checks at the right times. No overhead! I know I'm a pedant!
 
I'll go home and read Alexandrescu again, then write that lib. Im probably gonna go for raw oledb. All this OLEDB templates 
simplicity blurs my view! ;-)
