Hi,

Since we are using JBoss versioning system: http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/JBos=
sProductVersioning (and I don't see why we should stop doing so); we can fo=
llow their description of SP:

"An SP (Service Pack) may follow a final release. A service pack (e.g. jbos=
s-4.0.3.SP1) may be released when there are significant issues found after =
a final release to provide a bug fix release before the next scheduled fina=
l release."

Since I don't see any "significant" issue, I think a SP is unnecessary; ins=
tead, we can plan the next GA which could be 2.0.1.GA or 2.1.0.GA depending=
on how many changes are made.

As for when it should be done, that's quite relative I guess. My rule of th=
umb would be something like: "Release the next version when there is someth=
ing new that many users will benefit from".

There are also a lot of unrelated elements:
- We shouldn't release "too often" or "not often enough"
- Releasing "forces" users to upgrade their code (even if it is just a xcop=
y)
- Releasing gives a feeling of "being alive" and "moving forward" (which is=
 a good thing)
But these can get quite messy to take into consideration.

Bottom line, IMHO, you can release when you feel that it should be done. If=
we hear complains, we can always change the pace :)

Pierre Henri.

That is the problem to choose what the next release is...In general peoples=
think that a SP is only for bug fixing but Microsoft give us a "new concep=
t" about what a ServicePack is...
In our case we have bug-fixing and a new feature (we don't have breaking-ch=
ange so probably is not a SP in the MS concept ;) )......

Hi
My opinion:Is more familiar to me see products with minor release (a.k.a: "=
we fixed a lot of bugs or a big one") like:
- From Big release: X.0.0
- To Minor release: X.0.1
Automatically in mind I supose this release is just for fix bugs of the pre=
vious release.

Would the next version be a=A0ServicePack=A0or a minor release ? (NH-1034 i=

Do somebody check if we can fix something else before release a new version=
