Michael is of course, correct - you can write whatever you like in a
unit test - it is, after all, just regular .NET code.
I would have to ask though, if you don't test the values, how do you
know whether the code works or not?
Surely the point of tools like nunit is to allow you to automate your
testing and remove the need for manual eye-balling test results?

simple WriteLine is no problem at all.

	 

	I'm gathering a lot of data in the tests and write them to
stdout as well as an own logging facility.

	In that case, you don't use assertions at all, or only use
assertions to compare the values to thresholds if you like to.
